Organizers:
The course has been organized by CIFAL Durban and Municipality of Ethekwini in collaboration with Smartxchange, the United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR), the South African Local Government Association (SALGA), CIFAL Bilbao and the Basque Government.
Objective:
To raise awareness on the Digital Local Agenda among local authorities in the English speaking African countries. It also aimed at helping local authorities to accelerate e-Governance at all level to improve efficiency, transparency and accountability; to enhance the administration and government capacities for public service by sharing experiences and good practices.
Description:
From the 16th to the 18th of April took place in Durban, South Africa the “E-Governance: Digital Local Agenda Awareness Raising Workshop”, addressed local authorities in the English speaking African countries with the main objective to raise awareness of Digital Local Agenda among them and to help them to accelerate e-Governance at all level to improve efficiency, transparency and accountability.
The course organized by CIFAL Durban was attended by 21 trainees from 8 countries (Ghana, Kenya, Malawi, Mozambique, South Africa, Tanzania, Uganda y Zambia) and 2 national associations of municipalities (South Africa).
The training was guaranteed by one trainer from the United Nations and 5 case studies were presented. A field visit to see the e-Library Project was organized.
